As the United States surpasses 5.9 million confirmed coronavirus cases, the global COVID-19 pandemic continues to have a serious impact on many people, including cancer patients, their families, and their caregivers.

In June 2019, Skillz announced a year-long partnership with the American Cancer Society (ACS), featuring mobile esports tournaments to support the fight against cancer. In continuation of this partnership, Skillz and ACS are launching a mobile fundraising tournament this weekend to activate donors everywhere to support those fighting cancer during the pandemic.

This is especially important given that COVID-19 may create long-term setbacks in the fight against cancer. The pandemic will reduce ACS cancer research funding by 50% in 2020 if current trends continue, meaning life-saving research and patient support services are at risk.

Skillz is committed to leveraging the power of the mobile gaming community to tackle persistent challenges and support important causes. With its competitive mobile esports platform, Skillz has activated thousands of new nonprofit donors through charity tournaments. 

The tournament will run this weekend, from August 29 at 10am PT until August 30 at 10pm PT.
