American Red Cross & Skillz Unite for National Game Day to Aid Disaster Relief Efforts
In honor of tomorrow’s National Video Games Day, Skillz is partnering with the American Red Cross to raise money for disaster relief through a mobile esports tournament. This tournament will run from Saturday, September 12 at 10am PT until Sunday, September 13 at 10pm PT. Players can also view more information at redcross.org/skillz.
There are currently 101 active large fires across the country, with a concentration on the West Coast. These natural disasters come at a critical time for our world amid the coronavirus pandemic, as the United States surpasses 6.4 million confirmed cases.
In March 2020, Skillz and the American Red Cross raised $40,000 to help alleviate blood shortages as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Skillz and the Red Cross also partnered in 2019 to support the families and communities affected by the California wildfires, raising over $41,000 in one tournament. In a continuation of this partnership, Skillz and the Red Cross are now launching mobile esports tournaments to help ensure people affected by disasters both big and small receive the support they need.
Skillz is committed to leveraging the power of the mobile gaming community to tackle persistent challenges and support important causes. Through its leading mobile games platform, Skillz has activated thousands of new nonprofit donors during charity tournaments.
