At Skillz, giving back to our communities is core to who we are. This month, our remote teams came together to participate in our first-ever Virtual Day of Service, writing letters for Love For the Elderly, a charity founded to bring love and kindness to elders. The organization has volunteers across 56 countries, and has been recognized as a member of the World Kindness Movement.

During the coronavirus pandemic, social and physical distancing is essential to stopping the virus, but causes social isolation and loneliness – especially for elderly living in community housing where visitation has become limited since the start of the virus.  

After writing letters, we reconvened as a team to debrief and share highlights with one another. We discussed favorite parts of our letters, bonded as team members, and shared our creative card making skillz. It became apparent that although working as a distributed workforce remotely has changed the way we interact with our communities, it shouldn’t change our love for supporting them.
